Remy Model 11-C Trap

Besides my passion for vintage American SxS's I have a soft spot for another American classic, the Remington Automatic or Model 11. I recently picked up a Model 11-C Trap circa 1915 Remington/UMC in decent shape. Remington made 850000 (1905-1948) Browning designed humpback autos but very few were higher grades. The Trap (Straight Stock) is a difficult slot to fill, relatively few Trap graded gun were made and most have been beat to hell. This gun is not mint but all original with a standard for the grade imported walnut stock, trap dimensions and a full choke. Love shooting these old clickety-clack long recoil autos. 1905, the birth of the Remington Automatic, was about the same time Ansley organized the AH Fox Gun Co. The model 11 was most likely the primary reason the SxS market place was destined to long tern decline.

Most C grades appear to have seen a lot of use as you indicated, those that show up pristine typically have had their share of cosmetic surgery! Lol

If you appreciate fine machining you will be drawn to the M-11. The solid rib and vent rib are machined as an integral part of the barrel. The number of machining operations, the amount of hand filing and fitting plus the full coverage engraving on the high grade guns is unbelievable. If you have never considered a Remington M-11 take a look, you get a lot of gun for your money.

I have only ever recorded one The Sportsman C.

Very nice Mdl 11 Trap Grade. The D’s, E’s and Premier (F) Grades have some of the prettiest engraving of any autoloader or pump guns out there. A number of years ago I had a 16 gauge 2 barrel set that I bought from my older brother. I kept it and shot it for several years then foolishly let it slip away. Wish I had kept that one. Both barrels had solid ribs. 26” IC and 28” Full if I remember correctly.

I was at the MI Antique Arms Collector Show last weekend and on the same table a gentlemen had three 12 gauge Model 11’s. There was a D Grade, an E Grade and a F (Premier) Grade.,Was nice to look at and study the engraving on all three of them laying next to each other. Brett

They were for sale. If I remember correctly they ranged in price from $1750 - $2500 or in that range. They’ll probably be down at Louisville next weekend and I can confirm then. Brett
