One Last Drake
I’ve been doing a lot of deer hunting, but with no luck. Plenty of deer sign, but they just don’t seem to be moving much. It’s tough sitting in the deer blind while ducks and geese are circling the lake in the distance. Today I decided to eat my lunch in the duck blind, and by golly I got a mallard.

Sometimes your just are in the right place at the right time. I'd be willing to bet though, that while you were eating your bologna sammich in the duck blind a 150+ class buck sauntered by your stand then bedded down within spittin' distance. Nice picture BTW.

That's funny.....and, unfortunately, probably true.DarylC wrote: ↑Thu Nov 21, 2024 10:12 pm Sometimes your just are in the right place at the right time. I haven't hunted deer that much but 40 years ago several of us from the gun club would venture out in a state gameland in RI. We knew there was a decent buck in a particular area but could never get it. One time we had enough guys to post the 3 trails out of the thick brush and 3-4 to drive it. We heard it....we found the tracks.....we drove it.....we were waiting for the shot......
That never happened.
Guy fell asleep sitting at the base of a tree 20' off of the trail that it took leaving the tracks for all to see.

I think more deer are "missed", not by an errant shot, but by the nimrod falling asleep at his post.Maggiemollie wrote: ↑Sun Nov 24, 2024 6:20 pmThat's funny.....and, unfortunately, probably true.DarylC wrote: ↑Thu Nov 21, 2024 10:12 pm Sometimes your just are in the right place at the right time.
