Hunting w/Sterlingworth 30” Skeet & Upland Game Gun

Post by Foxnut »

Many of you know I picked up a Sterlingworth Skeet & Upland Game Gun w/30” barrels. I measured the chokes and the right is 26 thousandths (M) and the left barrel is 43 thousandths (F). Due to our weather here in MI we called an audible and decided to pheasant hunt this a.m. closer to home on a State Game Area vs. driving North to hunt grouse and woodcock.

A friend and I along with Rosey worked the cover for two enjoyable hours. In the last 30 minutes of the hunt Rosey went on a hard point about 25 yards ahead of me. I called out the point and told my friend to get ready. When I got about 10 feet from Rosey a Rooster flew up and swung to the right. I missed with my first shot and then Steve and I shot simultaneously and the bird collapsed about 30 yards in front of us. Rosey made the retrieve to hand and we worked our way back to the truck. Hard to tell who got more of the bird but we were both elated to get a Michigan Rooster. Our DNR has a release program on 13 of our game areas so there is a ton of pressure on these birds. We wrapped up at 11:00 a.m. and was back home by 12 before the heat set in. All in all a beautiful morning and time outdoors. The new S&UGG did not disappoint!

Great pictures Brett. Rosey looks happy and that is a beautiful rooster. Nice shooting with your new gun. Once again, “the Fox gets the game.”

Great! My favorite Fox bird-getter is a little like yours in reverse - a 16 ga. SKUGG 26" STGP choked .005 & .011. Perfect for close-quarter flushes of grouse or woodcock! Kevin

Nice Brett. Don't you love it when it all comes together?
