As user unfriendly as I find the Index part of the first two, I didn't bother. Would be nice to have an index for The Double Gun Journal like the ones Published by The Compiler for The American Rifleman for the 1940s, 50s, 60s and first half of the 70s, back when that magazine had worthwhile articles.

The publication closed up shop in May 2022 and the Index & Reader was promised by the end of 2023; that gave the ex-publishers more than 1-1/2 years to work on it. I didn't order one and thought I'd wait and see what the feedback was after the I&R was released. As Jim posted here the current status is: hoping for release by the end of September = that's 2 years + 4 months and counting (from May 2002). All the updates I’ve seen posted seem to be reactive to someone calling or emailing for status. JMO that proactive communications by the ex-publishers would be helpful to those in waiting.

I have not pre-ordered/pre-payed for the IR 3 yet. At this point glad I didn’t. I am hopeful that the Cotes get through the loss of their son and other issues. I wish them well!

Me, too. I cannot imagine that level of grief.

I'm owed a refund by the Cotes as well, but waiting. Patiently.

The latest from DGJ. This was posted yesterday.

"As many of you will know the production of our Third (and last) Index and Reader has been beset with difficulties over a long period due to ill health and events beyond our control. We are pleased to say that orders by email and phone can now be taken although you will have to wait until December to receive it. As soon as we have physical copies we will also be able to add it to the webstore to order online.

We expect to be sending it to the printers by mid October and have copies available for shipping in mid December. Just in time for Christmas!
If your DGJ account is in credit please contact the office to make your order and conclude the financial side.
Our apologies again for these unavoidable delays. We hope that completing your collection with the Third Index & Reader will give a fitting closure for our much missed Journal.

Thank you for your patience, friendship and loyalty over many happy years."

I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt. It'll come when it comes.

We have been working on a fireplace conversion at our cabin. It has taken way longer than I would have liked. It’s difficult to get anything done when you depend on other people. The fireplace should be done on Tuesday. The DGJ reader will be have some good information when it finally arrives. Definitely something to look forward to receiving. John

Folks on the Parker forums are saying February now for delivery. Joanna at DGJ is said to be the source of the info.

The latest from Mr. Cote: "For reasons far beyond our control, the belated delivery is because of MY serious medical condition which has kept me at bay with the Urology department to which I have been "tethered" for the past almost 5 months; before that it was Shingles which hit me in November of 2023 and literally took the life out of me into January of 2024. We are going to the publishing company by Christmas, and are promised delivery to U.S. addresses to commence in the month of February '25."

"As if these above-mentioned problems were not enough, Joanna and I both had serious bouts with the flu. But far and above everything I have mentioned, we lost our son, Danny, on May 16,2024... throughout it all, we managed to continue preparation of the book and will finally be getting it to the book publisher (in Canada) at least by the end of this month of December. Of course, due to our unavoidable punctual ineptitude, orders all but dried up and we needed to borrow money to complete the project... you see, Joanna and I put everything we had into those last 2+ years of DGJ publication--thinking that somehow we could pull ourselves back into profit. I thank all of you for your extreme patience and never wanted to encumber you with all these personal problems we have, but it was finally well overdue that I should do so. Joanna and I still own the journal and continue to offer all the back issues and most of the products we had for more than 32 years....... order on our website or just call Joanna and I at: 800.447.1658 - or- danieljoanna1945@gmail.com"

There is a post on the Parker website site about Mr. Cote’s challenges. If getting my book a little late is my biggest problem I am blessed with a pretty good life!
