One of the saddest things for me about the demise of The Double Gun Journal is that although there were a couple of articles about the American Arms Co.'s George H. Fox side-swing hammer double, there was never an article covering their side-cocker semi-hammerless --

and their A.E. Whitmore hammerless doubles --

I can't ever remember seeing one of those George Fox doubles. They look pretty darn nice.

Here are some pictures of a nice example of the American Arms Co.'s George H. Fox side-swing hammer double of the 1870s --

They also made a side-cocker single barrel and a plethora of cheap revolvers and pepperbox type handguns. May have been some of the original "Saturday night specials."

I do remember seeing one or two of those side swinging doubles and were called fox. They sure didn't look that nice.
