Last SW Needing A Bird

Post by Maggiemollie »

My goal for each gun I have acquired but don't need has been to get a pheasant. They are stocked birds and some are dumb and some are quite clever. The last gun standing was a SW 30" with F/XF chokes. Haven't really shot it that often and the stock drops are severe (read as looking at the bottom of the lever when mounting). Trying to be authentic, went out "as is". Missed. Back home and 10min later, new stock comb dimensions. Done and Fox and all other SxS are now in the "finally got one" category.

I am now going to open up my own custom stock retrofit business. Anyone with a DE that doesn't quite fit, I can fix. (Disclaimer, Cosmetics and originality not considered - you've been warned).

Obligatory pictures of Maggie (brindle) and Mollie. The odd ball hunting dogs. I love the reaction I get when people see me with them. Like "you can't be serious" yet thet find, flush and retrieve.

Way to "get 'er done!"

For at least the last 25 years he hunted, my father had this lace-on Monte Carlo he made on his Ole Remington --

That's really cool. To me it's about fitting and getting the right sight picture. The cardboard definitely raised the comb.

Now that is truly a “custom” piece of gun fitment paraphernalia!!!

Congratulations to you and the dogs. I’m impressed with your “fitting” skill. 👍

As they say, "form follows function". Great way to keep the stock original.
Owning a Fox is not a spectator sport.
