CSMC CE Grade

Post by Laribus »

CSMC has a CE on Guns International on which the bottom panel engraving shows a Pointer looking to the left rather than the usual Setter looking right.
Did the later C grades come with two different dogs?

The earliest CE-Grade I've found with a pointer is an early 20-gauge --

My CE is within about a 1000 of the serial number of the one listed. It is a 1920 gun per factory letter. It too has a pointer. I have only seen a couple with the pointer. One of the reasons I bought the one I own.

I used to own a very nice CE that had the setter facing left. I did not know or think it was a rarer feature.

I edited this to show a picture I had on file.

While the early C-/CE-Grade smallbores I've saved pictures of have the dog facing left --

Looking farther through the pictures I've saved it seems as the years passed the dog facing right became more common on the smallbore CE-Grades --

Knew I had a picture somewhere. This I refer to as my septic tank gun which at some point will have an article written on it for the newsletter. Currently in the hands of Mr. Gournet. PS. This is a labor of love as they say. 20 Gauge.

Had my follow up with the surgeon yesterday. Progressing well. Still 10 days before I can lift more then 5 lbs. After another 10 day I can go to 10 lbs and another 10 days no restrictions. Getting lined up for Michigan in late Oct to chase little brown birds with Sophie.
