New to me XE deeply cut engraving style so called head down Fox, 21773. It will be on display at Hausmann's along with my early BE.

Wonderful gun!! Don't get much better than the banded checkering pattern on a straight grip XE --
The lower gun looks pretty interesting too!!

Re: One of the guns I will have on display at Hausmann's
The interesting thing is the gun has the short forend and the lack of the breech barrel filed into the barrels at the top rib. It is the 17th XE made with the head down Fox engraving style, 21773. I believe the XE illustrated in the 1914 catalog is 21471, the only XE made during the period with "cheek piece left side". That gun does not have the banded engraving but does have the ogee flourish pistol grip. It seems every XE at the beginning was a little different. The bottom gun is my 22551, with early DE style checkering requested.

22458 is the first X or D grade I've recorded with the profiled breech balls, but no rebates. DE-Grade 21187 has rebates, but no profiled breech balls or lock screw. DE-Grade 21209 has none of the "features." X-Grade 22578 has profiled breech balls but no rebates or lock screw. D-Grade 23518 has the profiled breech balls, rebates and lock screw.
