For appearance, artistic merit, contents and value to all lovers of shooting, we doubt whether the new gun catalogue, just issued by the A. H. Fox Gun Company, maker of "the finest gun in the world," has ever been surpassed. The cover is in brown, the lettering in gold, with a handsome engraving inset of a night scene in camp. In the arrangement of illustrations, all of which are of the finest type, the catalogue is ideal.
The picture of each type of Fox gun is full-paged and faced by a page of descriptive reading matter that tells all the important points of this style. Another feature is the series of full-page illustrations of the Fox gun with various parts of the mechanism laid bare to show its working construction.
Another page is devoted to the pictures of every part of a Fox gun down to the smallest with a key number. The price and name of each, with its number, fills another page. A perforated order blank is in the back of the booklet, so that it can easily be taken out, filled and sent to the factory. These catalogues are now ready for distribution, and as ah gunners should possess one they will be sent to any one on request.
Address the A. H. Fox Company, No. 4666 North Eighteenth street, Philadelphia, Pa.

"Best Selling Gun in 1907"?? I think the Remington Autoloading Shotgun might well dispute that. The serial number chronology shows Remington produced 14786 of John M. Browning's creation in 1907.

In “The Panic of 1907” the Knickerbocker Trust Co. collapsed, the Dow Jones Industrial Average lost 48% of its value, and unemployment rose from less than 3% to 8%. In response, the Hunter Arms Co. and Parker Bros. were both forced to lower the prices of every grade double. The $105 No. 2E in 1898 went for $95 in 1908.
re: production. Hunter Arms manufactured 17,867 guns in 1907; 11,049 in 1908.

Re: Fox ads in Sporting Life
Drew - thanks for all those links to the Fox Company back then. I especially liked the link to October 31st 1908 about Fred Coleman:
"At the recent Pennsylvania State shoot, Fred Coleman, of Pottsville, shooting an A. H. Fox gun, was the only one to go through the entire live bird program with a clean record of 45 straight kills. Mr. Coleman has shot at considerably over 200 birds with his new Fox gun and has killed them all, the only one lost being one which fell dead out of bounds. This is a wonderful score and bears evidence of the wonderful marksmanship of Mr. Coleman, as well as the splendid shooting qualities of the Fox gun."
And Dave, thanks for digging through your archives and posting them here.

This ad appeared in many sporting and popular magazines in 1911, but I found nothing in Sporting Life

E. H. Godshalk, Philadelphia Capitalist, Buys Plant and Will Continue It.
The A. H. Fox Gun Company, of Philadelphia, has been purchased and reorganized by E. H. Godshalk, a successful and prominent local manufacturer and capitalist. The new company will improve and build this already high-grade gun, and, with an increased force for making and distributing, promises to be a factor in the shooting world.
F. T. Russell, who, as superintendent, has been responsible for the turning out of the high standard Fox guns, will continue in charge of the manufacturing department.
Ad. R. Roll, long-experienced as a gun salesman, will take charge of that department, while the financial department will be under supervision of Spencer K. Lewis, who will act as treasurer. J. L. Peden will be the general manager.
The 16 and 20 gauge guns will be built in Sterlingworth and higher grades.
