Lengthening chambers to 3 inch

Looking at Savage Fox 12 gauge-1936 with #2 Chromox steel 30” barrels with 2 3/4 chambers. Can they be lengthened to 3” chambers? Anyone with prior experience with this? McIntosh book says you could order 3” chambers in non-Super Fox.

Sure you can do that. It happens often. I wouldn't do it myself because, well because I just can't bring myself to modify a nice original gun. But others have no hesitation about doing so.

Would not do it with a Philly gun. Has Long LOP which I need and want to use it for duck hunting.
Hunter/Collector is how I would label me. Appreciate vintage guns and hunt with them.

I wouldn't do it either. There is little to be gained ballistically by shooting a 3" round in a gun designed originally with a 2 3/4" chamber. Not to mention the recoil and possible harm to an old stock. It's never good to remove metal from the bore of a shotgun.
