Fox letters from Cody
Fox letters from Cody
Hey gang, new member here, joined about a year ago. I requested my one free serial number lookup for my A Grade 20 bore s/n 201650 by sending a letter to the Savage address noted on our website; received a reply telling me that records had been transferred to Cody, which of course is no new news to most of you. I contacted Cody with the email indicated in the Savage letter, and got a response that they would be happy to do a lookup for a $75 fee; do we no longer enjoy one free lookup per year?

Re: Fox letters from Cody
The free lookup is for a copy of the "build" card for graded guns, not factory letters.

Yes, Mike we still offer dues paying members ONE free card look-up per year, and additional card copies (graded guns only) for the bargain basement price of only $25/ea. See the 6th thread down on the MEMBER's FORUM for instructions on obtaining a factory card copy.
On the whole....I'd rather be in Philadelphia....
Re: Fox letters from Cody
Well, still drawing a blank here; I went back to Cody asking for a build card and here was their reply:
“From what we understand, the Fox Collectors Association has a copy of graded gun records from which members may request a record. We do not have any arrangements for free record searches through the Cody Firearms Records Office for Fox Collectors Members.”
The only instructions I can find on this website are the ones that indicate records requests go to Savage Arms, which is where my journey started in the first place. Although logged in, I am unable to locate the “Members Forum” referenced above for additional instructions. Can I ask that someone please copy and paste those instructions, or a link to them here. Many thanks in advance!

Mike, good to have you. I understand you signed up as a paying member but apparently your Member Forum access fell through the cracks. Send a PM to Craig (Fox-Admin) who can enable you. The card lookup instructions are in a sticky in the Members Forum. frank

Many thanks, Frank, your suggestion worked; hope you are well, it’s been a long time, I still have that Fox hat you sent me

Good deal. Yes Mike it’s been a long time. I wish I had more Fox hats made up back then. I’ve been thinking about another run of them. Maybe we can shoot together at Thunder Ridge once Bill opens this spring, or at Rock Mountain some time. I haven’t been out your way to Rochester Brooks in a while but keep getting the shoot notices by email. Maybe one of these days.
