I always thought that these were kind of neat. Marlin 410 lever action built off the Marlin 1893 platform. There were some minor changes made so the 1893 would digest a 2 1/2 inch 410 shell. These guns were originally offered as a stock option during their production run from 1929-1932.Buy a certain number of shares of Marlin stock and you could receive one of these as well I think. I can’t say if they were ever offered for sale to the public. Right around 10,000 or so produced.

My eyes are playing tricks on me, evidently. That barrel sure looks longer than that. Must be some kind of distortion from the camera lens. When I use a scale to measure the picture I get 10.3 cm for the barrel length and 4.7 cm for the LOP. That's a 2.1914 : 1 ratio. If the LOP were 13.5" it would make that barrel 29.6". With no distortion, for the barrel to be 26", the LOP would have to be 11.7". Got to be some serious lens distortion going on.

Thanks again for an interesting subject gun, SRH

Very cool! I have always loved lever actions and had a nice collection of lever action rifles. What do you hunt with the .410?

I guess that I’m more of a collector than a shooter.Only game I’ve taken the last few years have been Whitetail deer. The two I got this year fell to a 1906 Winchester Model 1894,caliber 38-55.Hopefully things will change tho as I retired this year and am hoping to be able to get myself into the field again. The Maumee river in N.W. Ohio flows right behind my house and the geese I see fly by are awful tempting to get out a shotgun and spend some time down on the riverbank.

Nice example. One of my top skeet stories involves the Marlin lever action. My squad is just coming into the club house off the field as another is heading out and I see some on the squad going out have .410-bores. I comment that it is mighty windy out there for the .410. Bob, one of the clubs very best shooters, carrying his Marlin .410-bore replies "wind is just a state of mind." Then goes out and runs 25 straight with the Marlin!
