Just a little more than in my Fox fund. I'll just have to stop buying shooters and save up I guess.

I didn't win it,but I did bid on it until I actually talked to the seller. He didn't do himself any favors in my opinion. He was very evasive answering specific questions and would only offer a one day inspection if you did the buy now price of $10,000.00 if it went for less it was an as-is sale with no inspection.
He scared me off, but someone may have got a deal on a CE-20ga that at the least needs dents removed from the barrels. The seller did tell me that someone had already tried removing the dents and did a poor job.
Oh well I do feel like I lucked out. Another CE-20ga was listed on guns America at the same time and I treated myself to a nice Christmas present.

I inspected the CE 20 gunbroker gun here in MD last month when it came out. It was a screamer, in my opinion, with an uncut 15" stock before the recoil pad which may also letter. It put some potential customers off because it appeared to have fairly thin muzzles. I should have taken the time to measure the bores and chokes. It is probably an original Eastern Shore quail gun and could letter with cylinder and cylinder bores. I was not in buying mode, but mentioned the gun on this site hoping to spur some interest. No one contacted me. I think the gun could have been bought for less than it sold for because the initial asking price was $7000. The gun came on the market with two Parkers, apparently from the home of the original owner. In my opinion, the gun is right as rain and the bores were probably not modified from original. Maybe someone on this site could comment on the original configuration of #202,316.

20 CE
I emailed and got the same run around and no clear photos. No way a buy without inspection and return privileges. For each one I passed that may have been a good one, there are probably 10 or more that were dogs.
without eyes on, its hard and with an unknown seller well...............

I hate to give you guys the bad news, but internet sellers of "our of the closet" graded guns very seldom know much about them, own bore gauges, or even a ruler, or have much internet experience. You have to bite the bullet and do what you have to do to put them at ease and help them along. I notice that one of our members and regular posters was a bidder right to the end and we haven't heard him complain about the seller. I have bought some of my favorite internet guns from people who could provide very little information about them. I had to go the extra mile to get the information I needed. If I had realized that the gun I looked at last month was being promoted on the gunbroker site, I would have been driving to the seller to make a deal. I am very surprised that the gun didn't sell at the show where I inspected it. Have you ever noticed that very few show attendees seem to have their measuring devices with them. My bore gauges were right outside in the car when I was looking at the CE 20. I just didn't happen to have five or six large with me, the figure I think would have bought the wonderful little Fox.

I agree
Eightbore, you are so right. It takes some questioning but can be worth it. However for this gun, I am 8000 miles away and kind of hard to talk on the phone and spending that kind of money without some talkng and good answers would have been hard.

I think we understand your situation, Brian. Asking a seller to choose between shipping a $7000 gun to Afghanistan or allowing a 13 month inspection period could be a deal breaker for the most generous seller. I have to think you are in hold mode for bargain hunting for awhile. I get most of my out of country inquiries about guns for sale from Nigeria. Most of those buyers want to send me a certified check for about four grand more than the price of the gun. If I refund the difference in cash, most of them do not give me a hard time about my asking price. How does it work in Afghanistan? By the way, I think they are your Foxes that we have enjoyed inspecting at the Chantilly, VA gun shows. Not much left, though.

Yes my CE is the one from Idaho. I'm going to take some pictures this weekend and I'll post them later. The gun is nice but it does have some warts.

I'm probably over cautious when it comes to the internet gun game and I feel this is a good way to be. If the seller would have offered an inspection period I would probably own the one on GB. I must have really been asleep at the switch. I check this site daily and some how I missed where you mentioned this gun. It sure would have helped talking to someone who knows Foxes like you that actually saw the gun. Sorry I missed your post.

On going back and looking at old threads, I find that I may not have mentioned this gun. I was probably reluctant to draw attention to a gun that may have had opened chokes. Foolish me for not measuring them when I had the chance. I tried to interest a friend in the gun when I first saw it, but he has high condition smallbore Foxes and was not sufficiently turned on. He was at the show, looked at the gun, and lives in the same town as the seller. What are the chances?
