Pad options on Fox shotguns?

Post by vaturkey »

Might be listing some vintage pads for sale shortly once I have a chance to dig them out of the safe. Question for members. What pads were offered besides Silvers, and Jostam Anti-flinch by Fox at the factory? For example, Jostam made many other pads, as did Hawkins. Were NoShoc pads a factory option. I'd like to keep a few of these pads I've accumulated over the years if they were factory options, but if they weren't I'd be more likely to move them on. Thanks much. Tom

I have found early cards that mention the Perkins --

a pad called Grieb --

and the Huntley, the forerunner of the Jostam Sponge Rubber --

Also, a few late Savage era cards call for a Hawkins or a Fray-Mershon "Whiteline".

I suspect that a lot of guns that were supposed to come with a Silvers, actually had a Goodrich or a Jostam Air Cushion.

Seems I remember a trap gun or two with the D.W. --

Tom, I have an AE 16 Special that has a factory Trap BT, Single Trigger, and was ordered with a D-W pad per the letter. I have not been able to find a D-W pad to replace the pad that is currently on it. Brett

I will keep a look out for you. That said, I've never even heard of that pad before this thread.

My SB grade Parker single had a D-W pad. It was ugly so I replaced it with a G&H Silver repro and put the D-W away.
