Unfired 20 gauge A-grade
Somehow, someway I acquired a 20 gauge A-grade in unfired condition. 28” KRUPP fluid steel barrels choked M/F with a snap-on forend and some decent wood. I just wanted to attach a pic because I don’t think there are too many left with this much condition.

A few more...I’m pretty sure the seller (an auction house) was angry with me.

Very nice. Good to know there's still a few around, after all these years.
Thanks, SRH

Congrats, a super nice Fox. The fancy breech burnish stripes tell it all! frank

That certainly is quite a find,we should all be so lucky. Silvers, would you be able to enlighten us on the significance of the breech burnish stripes? I have a 20 gauge A that has them and I had never seen them before.

Re: Unfired 20 gauge A-grade
The fancy burnishing stripes (as seen on the second to last pic) were typically but not always done on Foxes including Sterlingworths. Primarily decorative. And if the barrels are on the face, as expected from the factory, they will quickly disappear from open/closing the gun and compression against the standing breech when firing. The burnishing is possibly only 1 or 2/10,000-inch deep. frankSPE33 wrote:That certainly is quite a find,we should all be so lucky. Re: Unfired 20 gauge A-grade
Hey guys thanks for all the kind words guys!!! I got very lucky on this one. Also, thanks for the thorough explanation Frank! Makes sense to me now after your explanation as to why you so rarely see them on guns for sale and just how easily those lines fade with use. Someday I’ll try to get a copy of the factory card on this gun but haven’t done so just yet.
Thanks,
Matt
