Some days are better than others. Migrations can be fickle. Everything we saw could be pushed over the Delaware river/bay to Delaware, Maryland and Virginia and be gone the next day.
They seem to bunch up, then move on with a favorable overnight wind. Then bunch up again.
The only thing I don't like about hunting South Jersey is that I have to fight Philadelphia's rush hour traffic to get there in the morning during the week.
I live North of the city in Bucks County. The traffic stinks on 95 South, even at 6:30 AM.

Roger, thanks for posting and telling us about your hunt. Woodcock can sure be addictive.
Just a question on your pic posting. You're using Flickr and there doesn't seem to be a way to expand the pics to see the detail without copying them to the desktop etc. At least not on this computer. From that standpoint the direct picture posting feature on our website is much better, or am I missing something on expanding Flickr pics?
For some reason all of my photos are showing upside down when I try to use the import function for photos taken on my new phone. I’m so frustrated with it that I just go through the extra steps to import them to Flickr first then upload them the old way.

Here's how I do it: I use my cell phone for almost all my pics, send them to my email address, open the email and then file in a Picture file on one of three computers. Then I'll edit, rotate them if necessary, size to 900 x 1200, save, and then will post directly from the computer while on the site using the directions in Craig's sticky. They post well every time and can be greatly expanded with one or two clicks on the picture. The only issue at times is we're limited to 5 pics per post and multiple posts must be done for > 5 pics.
Frank, can you enlarge the entire page on your computer by holding "command" and pressing "+" ? Mine works that way. Often I will use my iPad instead of the desktop, and I can just touch the screen with two fingers, spread them slowly apart, and enlarge the screen like that. Probably not the same as clicking on a pic to enlarge it, but it works in a pinch.
I really enjoy the pics of your exploits, Roger. Keep 'em coming.
Some of those birds have made there way to Va. Buddy of mine hunting in central Va moved 18 woodcock in 2 hours yesterday. Two rode home in the truck with him. None of those birds were there on the 20th in the same location. Hopefully they will hang for a while so I can get a crack at them after deer season ends (the Saturday after Thanksgiving).
Great report, Roger - got rained out of my afternoon hunt yesterday in the MD Eastern Shore cover that I usually find them in. None there at all last Thursday; they probably are there now. Trying for them again next week. Yesterday morning got 2 mallards duck hunting and had planned to go for them by noon, but the rain came in on us around 11AM and ducks began to move again, so......Thanks for the great pics and the great birds! Kevin
Roger, thanks for sharing! It’s always interesting to hear where the woodcock are as they work their migration South. I spend some time in Bucks County the Horsham area and across the river in Titusville, NJ. My Company has multiple sites in that area. Gorgeous area!
