That's terrific, Craig. You must be a good dog trainer too. Has Lucy been retired?

[quote="fox-admin"]. . . Her only fault is she hangs out with brown dogs :) . . . .

Don't worry Craig, she's a smart dog. She'll get over that brown dog thing.

Just keep telling her that "black labs matter". Start her off on black ducks shot on black friday using black cloud ammo. :roll:

Video of Nellie on a fake duck hunt, just a trial of how she will be in a duck boat. Used my winger to throw a duck in the flag. I will do this a few more times before opening day.

I couldn't get the "link" to work. Are there any special techniques I need to know?

First pheasant hunt with Nellie here in central NY, 15 months old. Hunted with my son's three year old Roxie. Both dogs worked great together. The cover is still very thick as no hard frost yet. Flew 6 birds, missed one. Nice day

Nice warm up for the season. Won't be long now she will be doing what you both love so we will need pics of her first retrieve. :D Good luck and safe hunting.

I clicked on the picture to enlarge it. It looks like Nellie is actually smiling. Is that possible?

Jeff she made a couple of nice flushes and retrieves to hand. Her and Roxie are both fast dogs with lots of drive so I was most happy how well they hunt as a team and stayed close. No busted birds. Labs smile when they have feathers in their mouth no question and make me smile every day, they are great companions. The big test will be Saturday the 19th of October our duck opener. I am very confident she can do the work she is a great marker, handles very well and has a great nose, young dogs just don't understand the game and it makes them anxious waiting for a retrieve.
Here is a picture of the hunt test ribbons she earned this summer.

That's an impressive display of ribbons. What gun were you using?

In the blind today. Nellie has made a great dog now at 16 months, many more years in my little pup.
