Way to go Craig. Are you handloading shells for your Super Fox? What type of duck hunting are you doing at your club: decoy hunting? Pass shooting? Jump shoting? Great photo. Congratulations. Jim

Jim: I handload low pressure bismuth 1 1/8oz #4's or 5's. Our duck club is 1400 acres, mostly cattail marsh and some flooded woods. We hunt in small openings in the marsh over decoys. Our club borders Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge on one side and NYS Howland Island on the other (a total of 36000 acres of wetlands). The area is primarily agriculture (corn and soybeans) with many deep lakes (Finger Lakes) that rarely freeze due to there depth (up to 600 ft deep). Waterfowl migrate from eastern Canada and many remain all winter due to the open water and waste grain. It's a nice little part of the waterfowling world.

Wow! Sounds like your club is in the perfect location. I think that is the farthest north in an inland area I have heard of that still has duck shooting late in the season. In California we have hunting until the end of January, but it is warm and a wintering area for waterfowl.

Thanks Paul. The old gun is no closet queen but a nice ducker with hard earned beauty marks from a life in the duck marsh. It is what it is so it will remain untouched, as you say it has character. I put it back in the rack for this year, I plan to hunt the gun a couple of times each year just to stir the ghosts of the oldtime duck hunters.
