Serial #: 30058
Serial #: 30058
Hi. I've recently come across an Ansley H Fox and I'm trying to research and find info. I've done some web searches with limited results. And today came across a book by McIntosh that was quite a bit more helpful, but still feel like I'm piecing together a puzzle and dancing around a mystery! Any info and guidance would be greatly appreciated!
I've tried to attach pics here but its telling me they're too large. :/ I'll work on that.

If you own that particular gun and want to know how it left the factory the best thing to do IMO is join the Fox Collectors Association. Members get one free look up per year of graded guns. What would be provided is a digital copy of the original work order card for your gun. That digital copy would be sent to your email address. It is nice to be a member for several reasons. In addition of the once a year look up, you can pay for additional look ups (beyond the one free one) if you wish. You will also get access to the "Members only" section of this website which you can't currently see. Here is a copy of an original work order card.

Dues paying members of the A.H. Fox Collectors Association, Inc. are entitled to one free look up of a production card from our photocopy of the graded gun (no Sterlingworths) production cards which are held at Savage Arms Corp.
One can also get a letter on the gun from Savage --

Either will give info the way the gun left the factory.

Re: Serial #: 30058
From what we can see it looks like a nice honest 12-gauge Super-Fox that has had some adventures in the marsh. What we can't see is if the barrels have been cut, the stock modified or damaged, the chokes messed with, etc.

I do not believe the barrels have been cut down, 32". It seems to be original and not messed with at all. Again, I'm just starting out on my research/journey with it though.

Maybe the geniuses there thought it was an early A or Sterlingworth. No matter what it’s a great find!

Re: Serial #: 30058
It sure would be nice to know what the various marks found on Super-Fox barrel flats mean. A lot of Supers have the little "dog bone" mark next to the H grade stamp on the left barrel flat --
Tried to draw a red arrow pointing at the glyph, but my skills are limited!!
The gun in question also has the little "mushroom" mark down near the B of the BARRELS NOT GUARANTEED - SEE TAG marking on the right barrel flat --
Of course the Holy Grail of Fox paper to find would be a Super-Fox hang tag to really see what that BARRELS NOT GUARANTEED - SEE TAG is all about.
Then, some Super-Fox barrel flats have different markings --

Nice gun! Fair warning, you may sign up and then find no information about your particular gun is available. A chance worth taking though.
