Lucy is in top form for ducks. Everything is setting up for a great opener. The cold fronts have pushed a sh*t house bunch of ducks into our area. Openings up with Dana's gun my HE-C 31019. I really miss Sandy Cedar but am happy you guys are having a great trip.

Great report Daryl and thanks for the pics! Its so gratifying NOT to hear about 78-80 degree days, howling winds with snow & sleet, and the other types of weather calamities some of our members have endured over the years! Looks like a wonderful trip all around - I have to go back one day soon!! Kevin

You are so right Kevin. We have hit 90 degrees out here and we have hunted in blowing snow... all on the 3rd. weekend of Oct. Today was 50-ish with a slight breeze and crystal clear skies. We limited out by 4pm. Thank God we all can shoot or we would still be out there. Right now we are sitting around a fire pit as the temps. drop into the mid 30's sipping some local SD whiskey which is damn good. I'll be bringing a couple of bottles back with me. Life is really good.

PS: The 30"/20 Sterly got the nod again over the Parker and Lefever. It was a wise choice as some of the shots pushed 40yds.

The be a bargain Jeff. If I ever put paper to pencil on what it cost me to shoot grouse/woodcock in Maine this year It would be just about ridiculous. Assume you were hunting some private land, because some of those operations out in SD can be a tad expensive to put it mildly. One thing I do like about the upper Midwest and Maine is the availability of a ton of public land or private land available as long as its not posted up. Bottom line, nice job and nice pictures. Do wish there were some dog pictures with those birds. I like dogs.

Oh don't worry Tom. We paid a bunch for the lodging, guiding and use of the land, but I really didn't think that it was unreasonable. It certainly was a fun vacation.

Daryl, is Don B. related to the famous Nick Bellusci, gone but not forgotten? Dominic was a great guy and a great personality, and a hard core gun guy. I still break a sweat on a cold winter day when I think of the Hiram Walker Peach Brandy that Nick and I used to drink at the Southern Maryland Winter Trap League shoots.

I just enjoyed a fine dinner of mashed potatos and pheasant breasts. As I was eating one breast, I actually found 5 BB's. I can only conclude that this particular bird fell victim to Daryl Corona's marksmanship, and his tightly choked 32" barrels.

The only way you would find a BB in one of my birds is if you ate the head.
So how did you prepare the birds?

In a crock pot with cream of mushroom soup and some garlic. It was pretty good.
