Re: Difficult conditions in Finger Lakes
My old Golden turned into the October early season duck dog. She couldn't handle the ice breaking, but that early season is where she continued to shine.

Re: Difficult conditions in Finger Lakes
I believe in God and divine intervention. I know it's an old fashioned concept but it has happened to me too many times to be just chance. I have tried to honor my friend Dana by hunting with the Fox he so graciously sold me before his untimely death. Every time I use his gun the ducks have rained down on me. This is two years in a row it has happened. Anyone else feel there is a higher power at work while hunting at times??

Craig, If I were you, I would use Dana's gun more often! Jim
Goodbye Mandy, once in a life time hunting dog. I miss you every day.

Definitely Craig - on our last duck hunting trip to Quebec, Henry B. was definitely looking over my shoulder when I rolled a big Blackduck about 55 yards out on a quartering crossing shot. When I raised the gun to shoot, our guide said, "No, No, too far!" Swing and momentum took over and he took the full load of a Kent TM 3" round of 1 3/8 #5s and went down like a rock. Thanks, Henry! Re: Difficult conditions in Finger Lakes
This is a place I took the Super Fox. I hunted it with a long time friend that is now gone. It is over a mile hike through the marshes to get back there. Carrying decoys and a limit of birds out in waders is a challenge. This water stays open when everything else freezes. We enjoyed some incredible times together back there. My son took this picture on a rainy Thanksgiving weekend. I stayed inside. I haven’t been back since losing my friend. Too many birthdays and it seems a lot farther now. John

Thanks for the picture, Loggy. Does the water stay open because of springs in that spot. Jim

Eric I think every goose in Wayne county wanted into our rig of 6 goose decoys go figure could have shot 50. Mostly blacks around but a few mallards. With geese we were under the X.

There has been a lot of geese to the north of you in the corn fields on 31. They dropped the canal so everything I hunt is low!!! I hate that they do it every year. I may get up,to Sodus bay this coming week. Haven’t heard if there are any divers around.

"Knocked them down" indeed.fox-admin wrote:Knocked them down late season.
Weather wise, you may have some more opportunity in the next few days. Wouldn't that be nice.
Who was hunting with you? Mark?
Nice going Craig.
