Musings on the Vintage Cup
Just some random thoughts on the Vintage Cup. This is the 2nd year for its Pintail Point location, I wasn’t there last year, so I don’t have a 2007 yardstick to compare against. But I've been at many of the VC’s when they were at Sandanona NY so I did have some background. I arrived late on Thursday afternoon and left Sunday morning. To say I was impressed with the event would be an understatement. There are several posts here and on the doublegunshop and Parker sites about the event, and you can get some perspective from them too. Heavy rains were predicted and it did rain off and on at Pintail. Also it was gusty which played with the targets. But there was much shooting going on anyway. The forecast may have scared off some people but in reality it wasn’t that bad especially with the excellent tents for vendor row. By far the best and most weather proof tents I’ve ever seen. Most of the tents were on an asphalt pad, no grass and mud to contend with. Parking was good with many of the cars parked right off the access road. Comparing with recent past events while at Sandonona there were in my estimation many more guns and accouterments vendors. RST was there with a huge truck full of shells and I picked up some short 16's and 10's for inventory. Anyone interested in Foxes or any other double guns for that matter would probably be impressed with the number of guns on tables and carried around. The Fox booth seemed to be very well received thanks to the generosity of member Don Stuff who provided the backdrop that’s pictured on another thread here. I saw and handled many beautiful Fox guns, and met and talked with many Fox gun nuts. Gun highlights for me were the 20 bore 32â€

Yup, great display, great guys, great guns. The three HE Grades were a highlight, especially since one was purchased from a booth directly across from the Fox booth. It is a very high condition (my opinion) gun with full capped pistol grip, and .740 bores as I recall. The cutaway was displayed along with a second generation BE 20 in high condition, a real pair of treats. The "Fox Gets the Game" display was the centerpiece and will probably be pictured in the next newsletter. Our association has blasted its way into the collecting world in a short time. Congratulations.

It was a pleasure to be there at the Vintagers for two days and yes, the Fox Display kicked butt!!! I really enjoyed chatting with you boys for what little time we had to chat. It was a "high energy" booth and I compliment all involved with the display for treating people who stopped by for info with the utmost enthusiasm and respect.
IN GOD WE TRUST. SPE Skeet & Uplands and AH Fox vent rib guns a specialty
