Waterfowl update central NY

Post by fox-admin »

Well boys I have been out 4 times and got completely soaked 3 out of 4 days. Hunting with Super Fox 31598 and my hand loaded TM 1 1/4oz ammo. Been killing a few ducks mostly mallards, widgeon and gwt. Wood ducks are nonexistent in our marsh which is weird they must have left. Hopefully the widgeon and gadwall will stay for a while, few blacks yet. Sorry no pictures just too wet.

Thanks for the report. Maybe the weather will cooperate better soon.

Where do you buy the TM shot for reloading, Craig? I'm going to run out of bismuth eventually, and the TM is a possibility.

Stan I harvest the shot from Kent to I bought on sale, I don't like the pressure of the factory loads. My handload is 1250fps and less than 6000psi.

I had a feeling that's what you were going to say.............. :)

I've got enough bismuth for a few more years, just like to have a plan for the future.

Thanks, Stan

Same here Craig. Very wet. But I’ve had the opposite luck. I’ve only shot woodies and seen only a few other species. Well not count all the Megansers I see Lol. They are a nuisance!!!! My boys all got some shooting in this year 2 are 12 this year so it’s their first year. I hunted Saturday and there is still a lot of woodies around.

Our season is not in yet, although I did get soaked shooting clays yesterday. Got about 5 shells into a box when it started.
