another pressure ?

Post by pamlicopintail »

I bought this old fox mainly with intent of hunting waterfowl. the RST bismuth loads are to expensive for me to shoot. think im going to try handloading my own. the gun i have is an older 4 digit fox. So my question is what is max low pressure load safe in this gun. been reading a lot on net but just confused. I've seen between 5000psi to 7000psi. Found one bismuth 1 1/4 oz load of bismuth around 7300 psi at 1350 on parker forum was leaning towards this load if safe

No one can tell you over the internet what ammunition may or may not be safe in a 112+ year old firearm.

Here is some reading about ammunition in use at the time your gun was made --
