Chris Johnston of Braeval Sporting Apparel
Just learned via e-mail from Mary Kempffer (Southern SxS) that Chris Johnston, our delightful friend from Braeval Sporting Apparel, died unexpectedly last week. Especially poignant for me, since I saw him the weekend before last at the Flyfishing & Wingshooting Expo up at Lake Harmony Resort in PA. Chatty, feisty, gentlemanly to a fault, and always ready with a new and convincing sales pitch for his products. I will surely miss him. Kevin

That is terrible to hear. I bought something from him every year that I went to the southern. Nice guy who was surely passionate about the product that represented! My prayers are with his family.

Sad. Gregor McClusky shot us an email with the news. Always enjoyed Chris. Nice guy. He'll be missed.

I did not know Chris but the loss of anyone from our little fraternity diminishes us all. RIP Mr. Johnson.

Re: Chris Johnston of Braeval Sporting Apparel
Chris was a great friend of my wife, Linda, and mine. He sponsored a skeet shoot, at great expense to his company, for my home gun club, National Capital Skeet and Trap in Maryland. At the time, he represented Hulme, and they presented personalized leather pouches to all class and gun champions at our shoot. These pouches are proudly used by our members and will be for years to come. Chris donated prizes to be presented at Parker Gun Collectors Association annual meetings, and The Lovely Linda was the winner of one of the raffle prizes, a lovely leather takedown shotgun case that I could not afford to buy from the Hulme catalog. What a great guy. I expect to hear more about him on other threads and forums.
