New member intro, also need some help with valuation.
Good morning all,
Hope you're all having a good day. I figured I'd introduce myself and kill 2 birds with one stone. I had never heard of an A.H. Fox until 2 days ago. We've had one placed in our care (along with 20 other guns/rifles/pistols) that we're supposed to try and sell (if not buy ourselves).
I have done a considerable amount of research on this weapon and have found plenty of helpful information in this forum. I have also searched high and low for any information on a grade H to no avail.
The Fox in question is serial # 32532 which, with a bit of research, I have determined is a 1927. It is marked grade H and has ejectors. The barrel bluing is in good condition with very minor blemishes. It looks to me like the case finish is around 30-40%. The wood is definitely straight grain english walnut, it has one crack up the grain on the right side of the gun, and the checkering is in great condition. All 3 serial numbers match and the barrel weight is marked "0". The barrel flat is marked with the Fox proof, serial number, an H, and another concave square type symbol.
If there is anymore information that is required to get an accurate valuation, please let me know and I will respond as quickly as possible.
Thanks in advance

I have pictures and have tried to upload, but I am currently on my phone and not my PC.

You have a H grade Super Fox. Follow this link to our informational page on the grade.

It is impossible to do a accurate valuation without detailed pictures and measurements. From what you describe if accurate and the gun remains in original condition $5000. to $7500. They are highly sought after by collectors and waterfowl hunters.
OK now I got to your pictures to display,( http://s558.photobucket.com/user/Gbrytx ... 8448521355 )nice gun but the stock was cut and a recoil pad was added, the length of pull measured from the from trigger to the middle spot at the end recoil pad appears very short. The stock has also been cleaned of it's original finish most likely when the pad was installed. Very rough realistic estimate $5500. retail, a dealer will offer less.

If you have any desire to collect Fox shotguns that would be a great start. My suggestion would be to install any needed spacers and a period correct recoil pad. Cover that up with a vintage leather slip on recoil pad,the kind that laces up.Even in the present condition it will most likely do nothing but appreciate in value. I’m not sure, but I think total production of these gun was less than 1000.

I'd like to know what that concave square stamp means. Any ideas there?

It is a common mark found on many Super-Fox guns. Another is this little dog bone like mark --I'd like to know what that concave square stamp means. Any ideas there?
Probably the marks of an inspector or possibly the person who patterned the barrels. All supposition. Until we find an A.H. Fox Gun Co. table of inspector's marks, like Walter Snyder found for Ithaca Gun Co. and included in his books, we will never really know.
Is there anything readable on the face of that old deteriorated recoil pad? Looks like one of these --

Actually, that's exactly what the buttpad says. The face of the buttpad really isn't that worn, it's the rubber that is degraded.
