Fox Gunsmith

Post by sigmonster »

I recently acquired a 16g Philly Sterlingworth with great stock dimensions. I want to make it a shooter. I plan to send the barrels to Mike Orlen to get chambers/forcing cones and chokes opened up. He does not do general gunsmithing.

The gun does not have an automatic safety (I assume no auto safety rod) and the safety is "sticky" when you try to slide the safety off. I would like to have some one strip and clean the action, look at the safety, and hopefully add the rod so the safety is automatic. I would also want a recoil pad (Kick Eez or Pachymar) added to increase the LOP about 3/4".

I live in western NC. Are there any recommendations of good gunsmiths for such a humble project? I would love to drive and meet with whomever does the work, but can also ship the gun. Thanks in advance for any help

The closest suggestion I have is Brad Bacheldor in Grand Rapids, MI.
Shoot vintage firearms, relax, and have fun.
