Re: Starting a project
I was reintroduced to my work in progress at the NE SXS shoot last Friday.
This gun sure feel dainty in my hands.
The wood has not been finished but has been fitted to the receiver.
I'm told she will be ready for engraving by August.

I played with that gun a bit as it was on the table for the entire show. Rather amazing work as per the norm for Dan Rossiter. Boy has some special talent with a file for sure.

Geez, Roger, that be a nice stick of lumber for sure. When that gun gets finished your going to have to think long and hard about carrying it up those Pa mountains to chase the King.

Thanks Tom. You own a few nice sticks yourself if I remember correctly!

I didn't notice till you pointed that out. My D grade upgrade also had the diamond grip. Feels really really good.ROMAC wrote:Notice the diamond shaped wrist/grip?
Just one of the custom touches we worked out.

Re: Starting a project
Eightbore had this to say in another thread. I did not want to hijack it so I'm putting it here. The project is finally coming to fruition. Geoffroy wants his work done in time to take it to the Safari Club show in Dallas in January.eightbore wrote:Researcher, I just came home from the Easton, Maryland gun show and the Waterfowl Festival with a new to me flat frame Sterlingworth in near mint condition. It is a 30" 12 gauge, modified and full, all original, serial number 132789, my first flat frame. I met Kevin McCormack at the gun show and had a nice visit with Geoffroy Gournet today at the festival. He was working on an outrageous Fox with heavily relieved engraving. I decided to add my post to this thread so we can get up to date on flat frames. Kevin and I have been exhibiting at this show for decades and every once in a while, discover a nut like the Sterly I found this weekend.
I emailed Geoffroy last night and he confirmed that the "Outrageous Fox" he was working on was mine. I have not seen it yet. I'm going to be north of him in the Elk Mountain area this weekend and might try to stop in at his place on my way home to pay him a visit. It would not be too much of a detour.
Eightbore, I hope it was purty! LOL!!

Re: Starting a project
So things are really taking shape.
My gun's progress at the time was outed at the Easton Maryland Gun Show and Waterfowl Festival back in early November. Geoffroy Gournet had been keeping it close to the vest because deep relief engraving removes so much metal and goes through so many stages that he was not comfortable putting photos out there too early, in case anybody got the wrong impression about how close it was to being finished. A few people saw the picture but he was still reluctant to send some to me at that stage in the project.
Last week, Geoffroy sent me an early Chrismas gift, showing me where things stood. There is still a good deal of work to be done but it is really starting pop and I'm comfortable giving you guys a peek. I think he should be done his part of the project in a couple of months and there's a pretty good chance I should have it all together in time for the NE SXS shoot at Ernie's in June.

Re: Starting a project
Roger, just saw where Gournet is working on your gun in Dallas this weekend at the Safari Show on FB. Looks like he will be done in a couple of weeks.
