What could be sweeter than the anticipation of opening day ?

It is a time for planning for the openings days to come. Mine will be Arizona for Doves, with long barreled 16's and 20's, where will your opener be ?

The Peoples Republic of Maryland with a long barreled Fox 20 and a 28 Parker, both 30".
Owning a Fox is not a spectator sport.

A limit of doves opening day with a 30" 16 ga Sterlingworth. Always look forward to opening day starting about February. Drizzle all day (remnants of Harvey here in TN) and I don't remember another opening day when it was actually chilly in over 45 years! Good friends, good shooting and a wife who is understanding about my shooting and hunting passion, life just doesn't get much better.

rainded out today, but hopefully tomorrow. Pic from a few years ago. 30" ejector sterly 16 gauge. This was a good good day.

Was there ever anything longer on a small bore?
Any 32" 16's or 20's ??

32-inchers were regular catalog items, but not many 20-gauges were ordered. A restocked 32-inch 20-gauge AE-Grade is in the upcoming Julia's Auction. I looked at it back when "Pop" Headrick owned it, but the bulbous grip of the stock and the beavertail don't appeal to me. I've had this 32-inch A-Grade 16-gauge --

for a quarter century. I had just the right Dove pass for it back in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia, but it hasn't had any time afield late years.
