Re: Curious what was done to these barrels?
Muzzles look like they have been reverse chamfered slightly. (What grade gun is it?) The odd-looking 'pinhead' dots above and below the muzzle keels might be keel extenders (what barrel length is the gun?). The barrels may have been cut and the ends redone; also the pins added for greater stability/alignment. Or they may just be plugs where some solder fell out and the surface of the new 'pour' has not yet tarnished to the patina of the orginal. Kevin

They have been reblued and the gunsmith drilled a weep hole for each rib space and then filled.

Thanks Bob. Never had seen weep holes drilled there before, but you learn something new every day.Bob Jurewicz wrote:They have been reblued and the gunsmith drilled a weep hole for each rib space and then filled.

Re: Curious what was done to these barrels?
I really doubt that hypothesis because just one hole there - either top or bottom - would be sufficient to weep both barrels after rebluing if someone were concerned with that, and I see three shiny spots. Just working from that pic: my thought is three small lead shot pellets or pieces of lead solder were cold-pounded into unsightly gaps in the keels to get them to extrude into the openings, and then dressed off but not too well. Not likely they were melted and bonded because of the "heat" it would take and given the heavy steel mass at the muzzles acting as a heat sink.Bob Jurewicz wrote:They have been reblued and the gunsmith drilled a weep hole for each rib space and then filled.

Whoever got this 32-inch early B Grade for $1600. did well, imo. Just looking at the other GB pics it probably has 1-weight barrels = a nice ducker and turkey gun. The back-beveled barrel muzzles are right as rain. Those keels could be redone properly, quite easily.

I was looking at that gun hard. However, it wasn't choked full/full per the add. Unless they made a mistake they told me both chokes were .025. I thought it would have cleaned up nicely. 32" barreled guns are pretty sweet for ducking and turkey's.

I would have tried to buy it had I not had this one already. It's a BE with 32" barrels, and has served me well on doves and ducks. Restocked.
