Chicopee Falls Mass Sterlingworth

Post by GradeIII »

Question: Was Savage still making Sterlingworths when they moved to Chicopee Falls, or are all Sterlingworths with Chicopee Falls Mass stamped barrels re-barreled guns?

Thank you

Dana,
IMHO if the gun was rebarreled by Savage it should not detract from the value to much if at all. Others may have an entirely different opinion. If your looking at a shooting Grade gun then not at all. If collector quality then a letter showing the work performed would help. Not sure that late of a period of the work orders were captuted. Didn't see you at the MAAC show today!

Thanks for the feedback on the Sterly, Brett. Debated going to the show this weekend but am in the middle of a bathroom remodel, and decided to stay back. We're looking to put our house on the market this year and the list of projects to prepare it for sale is a long one.

The rebarreled Sterlingworth situation is a new one for me. There is so much to learn about the Fox guns.

Hope to run into you sometime this season. There's the annual Lapeer County SxS shoot on May 20th, and we shoot 5 Stand at the Ann Arbor Moose Sportsman's on Weds and Suns.

Take care -

Foxnut & Grade III, I drove over from Grand Rapids this morning and wandered around the show. I think I counted 14 or 15 Fox Guns, but nothing that I really needed. Foxnut, did you study any of the guns? If you looked at the CE with 26" barrels, I would be interested in your thoughts. I looked at it during the last show, and at this one, and I have one major concern. I'm sure that you have more experience with these guns than I do, so if you studied the gun, I would like to hear your thoughts. Jeff
