Membership benefit - serial number lookup

Post by Bill Graham »

Looking to pay up to join, and was unclear on the membership benefit about serial number lookup. The language reads, "Members are entitled to one free serial number look up per year, graded guns only."

I have access to a list of serial numbers to perform my own look-ups. Is this benefit different than that; more along the lines of the factory letter?

Thanks.

Thanks for your interest in joining the AHFCA. You are correct in saying that the card lookup is more than just a serial number chronology. We have access to copies of the original order cards from the Fox factory, but only for graded guns, and only for guns above serial number 9640. If you've never seen an example of one of these cards, I've posted one below from a C Grade Fox that I own. Not all cards contain as much information as this one, some contain more, and some contain much less. As a dues paying member, you can request one free card lookup per year. Additional card lookups can be purchased as well via paypal. It's as simple as posting a new thread in the member forum with the serial number you are looking for, and one of the Board Members will pull the card and email it to you. True Factory Letters can be obtained from the Savage Arms Historian, John Callahan, by following the instructions found on the Fox Collectors homepage. A factory letter can takes weeks to months to receive though, whereas the order cards are usually turned around within a day or so. The advantage to the Factory Letters is that Mr. Callahan has access to not only the graded guns as we do, but Sterlingworths as well. Hope that helps, and I hope to see you lurking around the Members Only Forums soon! :D

Cheers,

Mike

Thanks Mike. It just so happens I have had a graded gun bestowed upon me recently, and I'm happy to pay my dues and join, and I did so today.

Thanks again,

Bill
