Stock cut down?

Post by sweetsdream »

I was going to replace the old Pachmayer butt pad but noticed the size is way different from anything on the Connecticut shotgun store. I measure the stock end at 4 7/8" L x 1 3/4" and the screw holes 3" center to center. Was my stock cut down at some point? What are my options for a new recoil pad? Anybody you recommend?

LOP is about 13 in to the end of the wood and 14 1/8 to the end of the pad. My card says 14 1/8 LOP from the factory.

unless a special order gun its most likely been cut down...and the Pachmayr is not original even if the gun came from the factory wearing a pad....find one of the correct era repo pads or keep an eye on E-Bay for an original and have it fitted to your gun.....

I measured a 20 gauge ejector sterlingworth and it is approx. 5 inches as edges of factory plate or worn from use.I like a solid red or brown pad . Bobby

A silvers Pad will get the job done on your gun nicely in regards to size and looking good.

I recommend the Silvers Number 3 pad in either Red or Orange from CSMC. They are nice to work with.

Reproduction NoShoc pads are another option to consider. Available from CSMC also. They have smaller plugs then the Silvers pad and some folks like them.

Thanks for the replies. Yeah, I have the stock and forearm getting professionally stripped and refinished since there was a bad "oil" job on it when I got it. I will get a Silver's pad fitted and shoot for a while until I decide to get a restock.
