The mallards are still up north boys, sorry. Lucy and I had a big day with the Super Fox!! TM 1 3/8oz is deadly on ducks out of a Super with 40 points of choke.
Bill very little ice in the morning. The birds were active all morning. Ducks in the air constantly but dead clam so finishing the birds was very difficult. Maybe a couple more hunts but temperatures in the 20's predicted will kill us. It was a great day and I really love my Super Fox. I shot it almost exclusively this year.
Great photos, Craig. Glad you're having a good season this year. Your blessings are our shortfall. It takes some cold up there to push the big ducks down heah'. Maybe, if it does get cold up enough there, a few will make it down heah' before the season goes out. Well done with the big Fox. I haven't even taken mine out of the safe this winter, so far.
Stan: If the weather forecaster are correct the birds may finally move south just after new years day. Cold temps are on the way just after new years with some strong NE winds. A few days before our second season opened we had twice as many ducks in our marsh and surrounding federal wetlands as yesterday, literally thousands of mallards, pintails and blacks. A strong NE wind moved half the birds south. So you guys should have a push of birds now. I should be able to get out Tuesday but it will be snow and 20mph winds from the NE. I quick warm up for maybe a Thursday and Saturday hunt followed be a BIG FREEZE. I would like to put a few more red-legged mallards in the freezer!!!
Thanks for posting the photos Craig. It looks like a good hunt and hopefully the weather makes up for last year before you give the boys down south a chance.

I hope so, Craig. I am leaving Wednesday and taking my 14 yr. old grandson for his first experience hunting ducks in Arkansas, at my buddy's place on the L 'Anguille River. I am taking the old standby, the 30" BSS, but also the big 32" HE. The river is rising there now, flooding the corn, and it's supposed to cool off some about the time we get there. Hopefully it'll be good for a few days. Maybe by the time we get back there will be some big ducks around heah', too.
