Foxes at the Harrisburg Show

Post by Silvers »

I was at Hbg yesterday and only saw a few Foxes. A couple of smallbore SW's, one decent 12 gauge SW and an early A grade with a redone stock. I didn't see any walking in on their own. There weren't as many dealers there as usual. I know Baltimore was going on and Elmira told me his brother was at a show in Saratoga Springs. I was reminiscing with Nick the show promoter how the admission used to be $3. years ago when our boys and I were doing the shows, and now it's $8.00. His wife was quick to point out that's when it only cost $5.00 for gas to drive down. How true. 8)

Hello Silvers:

Here in Orange County California at our local gunshows put on by Crossroads you pay $14.00 to enter the gates. Las Vegas is $15.00--the Researcher and I pay $90.00 to get in early on Thursdays and the next three days---and Arizona shows are $15.00 plus parking of $5.00. Your $8.00 sounds great---and you're lucky to see a few Sterlingworths in California, but plenty of T-shirts and lots of beef jerky. Las Vegas has more Fox shotguns because they come from your part of the country. I put 10 gallons of diesel in my truck on Friday and it cost $41.90---the most I have ever paid for diesel---regular is $3.37-$3.57 depending on brand. Fox shotguns are a bargin!

At Harrisburg they save you money on gas by making you walk 6 miles to the front door.

I agree with both you gents on the price of everything going up, nice aerobic walk down at Hbg and how good Foxes are still a bargain. Also how we can fill up on BBQ sauce, jerky, jewelry, army stuff, etc. at most any gun show. But you never know when a slammer might turn up. Silvers

By and large I get to look at a lot more neat stuff at Las Vegas for my $15 or $90 then I get to at any local shows for $6. On the other hand one never knows what will walk in where. I did get my straight-grip, C-Grade, steel barrel Baltimore Arms Co. double here at Spokane!! There use to be a little show at the armory in Annapolis, but it was getting to be so much military I quit going and one of our friends scored a big BHE Pigeon or trap gun with a vent rib and both a beavertail and a slim forearm!!

I use to go to a small show in a VFW post. You had to walk thru twice to spend 15 minutes there. Over the years some of my best finds came from that show.
A great find can turn the worst show into the best real quick.

I don't remember seeing anyone I know to be a card carrying member. Of course, we haven't printed our first member list yet. Of course Ansley attends all the Baltimore shows but keeps a low profile. I don't think he pays dues either. He's usually hawking a real beater, and this year was no exception.

Once found and old Fox gun being walked around at a Black Gun and Web Gear show in Frederick. Don't recall seeing much in the way of Foxes at Baltimore either.

As an aside the Woodcock are back in So. PA on their way north (corrected from south).

Harry,
The swans passed thru here last week. They were going North. Would assume the woodcock are heading the same direction. Gun Show at Greensburg, PA next weekend. Hope to see some Foxes there. Fred :)

GUN SHOW

Post by whisperbow »

HERE IN KC WE HAVE TWO BIG SHOWS A YEAR WHERE YOU MIGHT FIND SOME QUALITY BUT THE OTHER SHOWS JUST HAVE ALL THE RUN-OF-MILL JUNK AND LOTS OF ASSAULT-TYPE WEAPONS. COST IS $7. REGARDLESS, I OFTEN WONDER JUST HOW MANY TABLES ACTUALLY SELL ENOUGH TO JUSTIFY ALL THE COSTS. I HAVE VISITED TABLES AND SAW A GUN THNE GO BACK IN SIX MONTHS AND SEE THE SAME GUN FOR SALE. I THINK A LOT OF THESE GUYS JUST GO TO TRADE WITH OTHER DEALERS AND TALK GUNS. THE ONLY GOOD BUYS ARE FROM THE DUMMIES THAT COME THROUGH THE FRONT DOOR TO SELL A GUN. MY TWO CENTS ON GUN SHOWS.
