Hi
I am new to the forum, but recently purchased a sterlingworth set # 350735. I thought this gun should be made in Philly but the barrels state Utica New York. The frame has only "sterlingworth" so from what I have read this would imply a philly gun??
All the ser # match. Anyone provide insight to the firearms origin? Also is it safe to use 2 3/4 light field loads?

Re: 16 ga Sterlingworth pedigree
Welcome. Sounds like you have an early 16-gauge Sterlingworth from circa 1913, that was either rebarreled or had a second set of barrels added by Savage sometime between 1930 and 1946, when they were at Utica. If you post several good pictures of the gun we can probably tell you more. You could get a letter on the gun from the Savage historian --

Thanks for the info and this makes sense. I would have thought new barrels would have a different serial number.

Re: 16 ga Sterlingworth pedigree
not if its "factory" work
new barrels fitted to the gun would be numbered to the gun
new barrels fitted to the gun would be numbered to the gun
