FOX SBT Rib Repairs needed

Post by yelloh564 »

Seeking advice and recommendations on whom to send this SBT J grade barrel to. The soldered posts have been redone in the past but instead of the solder being fully under the post platform, it appears that the "smith" just soldered externally the post platform to the barrel. The tops of the posts are okay and fit into the slots of the rib and the rib is pinned correctly at the breach end. Has anyone here had any successful work done that involved resetting the posts correctly. The excess solder is really bad. Thanks in advance. Frank Holley

Frank,

You know I couldn't fix a broomstick.... are your posts ok???....sounds like they may be. If you need new ones there were a bunch of them in the stuff that I had.

Hey TW, yeah, I've seen how you handle a screwdriver!!!.. Actually two of the posts are short, causing the rib to dip and not remain perfectly straight. I will need to see if Jason has a couple once I get a smith lined up to do the work. I was hoping someone here has had post solder work done and could make a good recommendation. I know my limitations as well, Solder work won't be a talent I can master!

If you have access to the mentioned longer posts, I'm sure Kody Kearcher in Oregon could do the soldering.

Thanks all, the barrel was sent to Kody Kearcher. Price quoted was reasonable and I am waiting to see how the repair turns out.

Mike the repair was just fine, solder was completely hidden under each post platform. Turnaround was good as well at 3 weeks or so
