Could you request an oil finish from factory?........Was it standard on any guns?.......DEN

I believe a oil finish could be requested on any graded gun. The "finish in dull oil" notation is VERY rarely seen in the records.
I believe Sterlingworth, A and B grades were finished with a spray lacquer at least after 1911 or so (with the introduction of the Sterlingworth). C's and above have a oil finish standard that is
beautiful in its original state.
