CSMC 16 gauge XE

Post by gwsmith »

I took delivery of my Christmas present a few months back - a CSMC Fox 16 gauge XE 2 barrel set. Was almost 30 months from order time to delivery - but most of that time it was sitting at the engraver's shop. Y'all will say it is short a trigger - but I wanted a single trigger gun. Need to work on my photography skills - but here are a few iPad shots to look at.

She's been out to the sporting clays course a couple of times but unfortunately I haven't been quail hunting yet this fall. Too busy at work - but need to go. I think the engraving was done by Jim Demunck. When I asked Lou who was doing it - he said he thought Demunck. I haven't had a chance to talk to him since I took delivery of the gun a couple months back. I've looked for the engravers signature everywhere but don't see it - need to get a loop and look again.

Now that's my kind of Christmas present! Love that it's a two barrel set. What are the barrel lengths and choke configuration?

28" barrels are IC/Mod for quail - the 30" barrels right now are full and full. Haven't decided whether to have Teague/Briley choke tubes installed or open them up a little bit. Ultimately I intend to use the 30" barrels more for shooting clays.

Very attractive gun!

Are the single triggers on the CSMC Foxes a copy of the Fox-Kautzky SST or is it of CSMC's own design?

Copy of the Fox-Kautzky trigger - early 1900's technology. Not a redone-modern trigger.
