Get ready to drool when your DGJ arrives!!!
Our own Mr. Tool Man authored a fantastic DGJ article about a early FE that is the absolute pinnacle of Fox collecting. Not only is the article filled with great pictures but also a well told story in Tool's entertaining style. Well done my friend well done indeed!!

Steve really outdid himself with that article. Note that he not only wrote it but did the photography as well. I read that one first.
What a gorgeous Fox.

Wonderful job Steve! The FE looked a lot better than the A1 Parker to me.Did you notice that the Parker was stocked in American walnut. Bobby

Very nice article. An absolutely incredible gun in absolutely wonderful condition. One of the best of the best. It was nice of the owner to share that piece with the rest of the collecting fraternity.

My issue arrived yesterday. Great job by my friend Steve; and I also thank "Mr A" who owns the spectactular F Grade, for bringing it forward along with his great story on the Fox hunt.
I also enjoyed the other article on the 20-gauge XE. Wow! Two Fox articles in one issue.

Picked up my copy today, and thoroughly enjoyed your article Mr. Roll! Great story and great photos. The unbelievable luck with that forearm wood! Somebody was living right.

My DGJ arrived today. Two great articles. The FE is certainly an exceptional gun. Nice job with the photos and telling the guns story. It certainly was a challenge for Mr. Leopoldo to obtain his gun. Thanks for your contributations.

Mine arrived as well. Only slightly damaged by the USPS!! Great read Toolman!! A legend for the ages!!
I seem to recall reading somewhere that Aldo Leopold's XE-Grade was a two-barrel set. I searched the records for 20-gauge XE-Grade two-barrel sets so 202036 didn't register.

And even more unbelievable luck would be to find the original non ejector fore end iron for the gun. Wouldn't that be something.SmithShady wrote:Picked up my copy today, and thoroughly enjoyed your article Mr. Roll! Great story and great photos. The unbelievable luck with that forearm wood! Thanks Craig and everyone, for the kind comments. Glad you enjoyed it. A gun like that will turn an Instamatic into a Leica, overnight! Akin to shooting a Playboy bunny....tough to find an unattractive angle! Truth be told, I only touched the butt stock once or twice because my hands were sweating like some manic farm animal. Now I'm dealing with postpartum depression. Hell, once you've been to the mountaintop, it's all downhill from there!!!!
On the whole....I'd rather be in Philadelphia....
