Go to his regular site, marklarsonart.com. Click on the links tab; there's a link to his gun stuff. Should work on your ipad I'd think.

Vernal,

One man's meat is another man's poison, I know. But, some things I just ain't willing to do, for love or money. Watching Oprah is one of 'em. I managed to train my bride (and be trained) without the help of Oprah. :D

Great story, though.

Vernal,
that's a great story. My wife totally supports my bird hunting habits, and loves wild game--had stir fry grouse for dinner tonight. She even thinks it would be fine to get another setter.(have 2 now)
Most guys start out with a Sterlingworth as their first Fox, yours is a CE, and damn, a 16 to boot! WOW

You Kemosahbee's (as the Lone Ranger would say) are sure fine fella's giving me advice about stocking this 16 ga so I can shoot it.
FYI, My last dissertation has been edited for clarification and repair of typo's. I hope ya'll re- read it.
Oh, 3bd, you are a fortunate man.

On to something new!
Brian Bilinski at Fieldsport in Traverse City has a 12 ga CE with that heart shaped checkering pattern.

I might buy it just so I can have a free fitting from Brian. He is by far the best SxS fitter outside of England. He can help with obtaining the proper dimensions for my new short 16 before it is sent to Larson.
If you didn't know, Brian Bilinski first introduced the game of sporting clays to America from England, when he was in Texas.

Bilinski's Fieldsport business in Traverse City, Michigan holds shooting schools throughout the summer. In 2000 I attended his school just to meet Michael McIntosh who helped teach shooting to beginners. I was way too advanced for their school but I just wanted to hang with McIntosh. I think he figured that I was a groupie of him, which I was!
Michael drove the suburban from the Fieldsport store to the shooing grounds every morning. I sat next to him in the passenger seat talking guns and his books.
I told him that I always had to have a dictionary available when reading his stuff. He had a perplexed look on his face like, "why's that?" At the time I was most intrigued with the Basque guns being produced of which he was a fan.

I had learned to shoot the ," Move- Mount-Shoot", or "maintained lead" method and kept crushing targets on the skeet training field. But what they were trying to teach us students was swing through. If they had just told me to shoot swing
through, then I would have known what they meant and complied. I think that Brian and Michael were frustrated by me .

Spending 3 days with Michael McIntosh was one of the biggest highlights of my life. He died much too early. At times in his essays he spoke fondly of scotch, and I wonder if that's what did him in? Later I discovered that he had more than a passing affinity for the spirits. Eventually he had given up the firewater and smoking his pipe but it may have been too late. At the time we met the hobby of fine guns and shooting had become more or less a job to him. A way to make a living since he gave up his professor position even though he did tell me that writing about guns was much more fun than Shakespeare and he was fortunate to be able to do that. Actually his real passion was with the game of golf.

We corresponded again via regular mail, ( this was before email and forums were so prevalent) where his recommendation to me was to choke a 16 for pheasants @ .004 and .010. He wrote this letter on New Year's Eve, Dec. 31, 2000. In all the letter was 3-1/2 pages long. It has been kept inside the second edition of his Best Guns on the bookshelf next to the TV.
I had forgotten all about it until recently when the book was retrieved to research Fox's.
We weren't friends by any means. I was just a client for whom he was paid to teach shooting and give advice, and that he did above and beyond what I ever expected.

Don't know why I got off on this tangent. Just wanted to write about gun experiences.
I'll contact Mr. Larson about this stock.
Thanks again!

I seem to remember you wrote somewhere that you were signing up as a new member. If so, once your membership access is enabled you'll find a wealth of good stuff on the Members Forums. Also, since you are a shooter you might scroll down on this open forum to early June and late September of last year to read about our shooting events which are pretty popular. I am particularly interested in the C-Grade Foxes with the heart shaped checkering. I looked at the one you cited. Thank you for bringing that one to my attention. There is something that caught my eye. If you are interested in that CE I suggest that you post on the Members Forum for member inputs. Silvers

Mr. Admin,
I appreciate you reminding me of the rules. My apologies for the slip up.
People may look it up on their own at the Fieldsport web site.

Mr. Silvers,
I probably won't get that 12CE as the recent 16 purchase is enough. I was just wishing out loud.
Don't want to push my luck with Mrs. Pike. The Oprah influence is mighty powerful but may not be enough for two Fox's right now.
Better wait awhile.

Sent in an old fashioned check to join the members side this past Monday. Hopefully someone will go down to the post office today and clean out the P.O. Box so Vernal can log on.

Since I brought up the member access I'll take a shot at replying. All the BD's are volunteers doing association work in our spare time and as we have that time. I'm not personally involved in the membership role but I know how it works; and I know it's time consuming as is doing any other role for the good of the association. The quickest way to sign up (or renew) is by using the Paypal link shown in the second sticky in this forum. And while we fully understand that some gents don't want to use Paypal for various reasons, sending a check through the regular mail might take weeks to index into our membership system. Please understand that all of us are trying our best to keep all the balls in the air (juggler analogy) with home, work, Fox association and other personal interests. Silvers
