Top Lever problems

Post by virginian »

I took my new (100 yrs new) Sterlingworth out to shoot some clays this weekend and had a lot of trouble with the top lever sticking when I went to open the gun. It doesn't stick at all without shells in the tubes and oil didn't seem to improve it at all. Anyone else had this problem? Any ideas? Thanks!

Yes many have the same problem. Try Remington Gun Clubs. The firing pins on your gun are dragging on the primers. Remington primers are softer and normally solve the problem.

Ok thanks for the advice...I'll try the gun clubs, have been using reloads with Fiocchi primers. Any thoughts on other possible causes? After a good application of penetrating oil the top lever is still sticking, even without shells in the tubes.

Where does the lever sit when the gun is closed? Centered on the safety button? to the left or right?
Beware the man with one gun...he likely will bore you to death in others ways, too.
