I recently acquired a very late Utica Fox Sterlingworth 16 ga. flatside. It is my first Fox. I came across it in a gun shop and it was in such beautiful condition for an old double that I couldn't pass it up. 28" barrels, double triggers, extractor, most of the case coloring and barrel blueing remaining, unmolested screws, original buttplate, minor handling marks on stock. It has not been refinished. I bought it to shoot but in doing research discovered that the flatsides are relatively rare. I can't imagine that there are many in this condition. Does it have much collector value or should I take it to the field?
Thanks for your help!

Re: Sterlingworth Flatside 16 Collectibility
I have no idea how many Fox-Sterlingworths were actually made on the SP-/SPE-Grade frames. In 16-gauge, the five flat-sided guns I've recorded are all the guns I've recorded in the 37699x to 37711x range, so the serial number range would indicate there could be well over 100. All the flat-sided, 16-gauge, Fox-Sterlingworths I've recorded have 28-inch barrels. Unless the gun is in 99.5% condition, I'd take it out shooting/hunting. Could we see some pictures of your gun, and could I have the complete serial number for my table of observed specimens?
