Floor plate removal?

Post by ranmcc »

I just want to take off the Floor plate to blow out the inside of the gun. It is a 20ga Fox Sterlingworth. Do I have to go through the complete process or can I just remove the trigger guard screw and then the Floor plate screw to get to the inside of the gun?

You do not have to go through the "complete process", but do need to: remove trigger guard first of all. There are three screws that hold the trigger plate on: screw underneath trigger guard tang, trigger plate screw, and breach screw under the toplever. Removing these three will allow you to lift the trigger plate away from the receiver. Be careful if you are blowing out the inside of the mechanism not to blow away the trip spring that is located under the trigger plate screw. There is a great illustrated tutorial on the index page of this forum on disassembly.

Thanks for the information. So uncocking the guns is not an issue? Are there any other springs or parts that might fall out if I turn it on its side to blow it out?
