!956 b
!956 b
I am new to the forum and searched a few posts to find that the fox B I traded an 1895 springfield for, is a 1956 gun. Its a 16 gauge with 24 inch barrels. My first question is should I have any concerns shooting modern shells through it. The gun seems to be in great mechanical shape. It has a single trigger yet the trigger guard seems to have a slot for another trigger . Is this normal or did I buy a gun with a missing trigger ? Another question I have is the opening lever is all the way to the right , My friend told me that this is an indication that the gun is very tight . Is this true ? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: !956 b
You probably won't get a lot of responses here as this site is centered on A.H. Fox guns while your Model B is a Savage product and is essentially the same gun as a Stevens 311. I have one Model B, a 12ga. Mine has double triggers but I imagine that in order to save production costs the single trigger guns used the same frame. Or it may have been converted to single trigger at some point. I believe the gun is late enough to handle modern ammo with no problem. The levers are typically a little to the right; not sure what you mean when you say all the way to the right. There are several reasons why it might be staying to the right; does the gun close and lock up properly? Wish I could be of more help.
You might try asking your question on doublegunshop.com; they are more open to guns of other makes over there.
Researcher has a Model B chronology which he has posted here from time to time in response to questions about them; you might do a search for that if you haven't already seen it. Good luck!
