Ducks, geese and double guns

Post by Silvers »

The May/June Shooting Sportsman mag came today with an excellent article titled Waterfowl Double by Richard S Grozik who is a retired staffer for DU, the RMEF, QU and the Friends of NRA, and a very accomplished writer. His article features an Ansley era AE Fox and Mr. Grozik has been able to put in writing what many of us feel about double guns, old ways, ducking, anticipation and wingbeats in predawn skies - but have trouble saying, let alone writing about. I think many here will enjoy the article.

Also of note, Tom Roster has written about shotshell pressure standards and what they mean to shooters. His Part 1 article includes comments on low-pressure, so-called "vintage" loads. And a full page advert for the upcoming Northeast Side x Side Classic including our Bo-Whoop Long Range Trophy Shoot is on page 73. If you don't take the mag you might consider getting it at the store. PS I have no personal affiliation with Messrs Grozik, Roster or the magazine.

Frank,I read and enjoyed both articles yesterday. What i do not like about Shooting Sportsman is all those hunters and shooters with over and unders hung over their shoulders. They do not look right and i believe they may wear the hinge pins out ! Side by sides look so much better! Bobby :D

Please notice the half page Eastern Panhandle Shoot ad on page 29. It is the first annual event at this venue in West Virginia. It is a favorite shooting venue of double gun fans in the Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia, and Washington, DC area. The vendor list is pretty extensive and includes co-sponsor and organizer Chuck Brunner of Green's Guns. Chuck sells more off the scale double guns than anyone north of the NC border and south of the Mason-Dixon Line. The website mentioned in the Shooting Sportsman ad is http://www.doublegun.net May 16-18, 2013
