Bolt protrudes into opening of barrel extension?
Bolt protrudes into opening of barrel extension?
Sorry if my terms are incorrect in describing my issue. After closing one of my Foxes it felt funny. After taking a closer look the bolt slightly protrudes into the opening for the barrel extension causing the barrel extension to hit it when I am closing the gun. If I hold the lever slighty farther to the right the bolt goes far enough into the receiver and the barrel extension does not hit it. I am guessing the bolt is about 1/16" out. What do I need to have replaced to keep the bolt farther in so it does not make contact with the barrel extension? Thanks for the help.

Re: Bolt protrudes into opening of barrel extension?
That's a common problem with Foxes and its most probable cause is that the trip pin locking surface on the bolt is worn. The short answer is, that the bolt and/or the trip pin need to be replaced. However keep in mind that the barrel extension camming slot will likely have to be fitted for proper contact with a new bolt. All this work is best done by a good gunsmith. It's important to take care of this because the side pressure on the barrel extension can cause other problems over long use.
