New member, and a question

Hi. This is my 1st post here. Anyway, I have a 1917 Sterlingworth, that I've had for 35 years (since I was 14 ) I hardly use it anymore since the Pheasant hunting in Nj and Pa stinks anymore. But I take it out with my Nephew for squirrels 8) Lately, I've noticed upon opening the action, it is very stiff. This happens only when it's cocking , not otherwise. I'm assuming the action needs to be cleaned. I started to try to take the buttstock off myself, but got scared. Do you think i 'm correct about the action cleaning, or maybe another problem? I also need recommendations on gunsmiths who are knowledgeable with Foxes in the Nj area, but I'll go out of state or ship the gun if need be. Thanks again :D
