Lets see some Fox dove guns

Post by vaturkey »

Season is just around the corner. For me it will be my Fox Sterlingworth 16 gauge ejector with 30" barrels. Just had Dan R. add a 5/8" vintage Hawkins Rifle pad to it two weeks ago. That makes the LOP right at 14 5/8" for me. Chokes are .028 and .028. Weight 6 lbs 6 oz.

Here's a Benelli SBE on a dove trip in Argentina. Good thing it wasn't a Fox; the barrel got so hot I was afraid the forend would melt. Field expedient: pour cold drinks into the breech and down the barrel. I wouldn't do that with a Fox. At least I don't think I would.... Silvers

I hunt about 40 miles north of Mount Jackson every opener. About 2 miles west of Winchester over an old waterhole. We have been hunting over that same waterhole for over 25 years. Property has been up for sale several times, but never sold. At some point it will be gone and that chapter of my hunting life will most likely be closed forever.

The gun on top is a 16 gauge Sterlingworth with 32 inch barrels choked full and full. The gun on the bottom is a 16 gauge AE with 26 inch barrels choked cylinder + (Skeet 1) and improved modified (Skeet 2).

Linda's oldest son lives with his wife and Red Labrador on the North Fork at Mount Jackson. Red can get into the Shenandoah in one jump from the back porch.
