where to look for vintage doubles

where to look for vintage doubles

Im not asking anyone for a honey hole but where do you all look for foxes? I flip through gunbroker, gunsamerica, gunsinternational, etc and then there are the high end boutique vintage gun "Museums" as i call them with price tags starting at around 20k but where do you look for honest sterlingworths, A grades, B grades etc? Am i missing out or is that really all there is?

Dave Sizemore, Sugarloaf Smoothbores, is a member of this forum, has some very nice guns to look at, and is a very fair man to deal with.

I seem to find most of mine through contacts that I formed over the years. Most of the dealers on line (Guns America, Guns International, Gun Broker) want premium for their guns, some dealers will work with if you call them and make an offer, the 2 dealers that are great to work with are George Lander out of South Carolina and Jay at Memphis Classic Arms, TN, got some pretty good deals from them.

Get on your bike and ride over to the Southern Side by Side in Sanford, NC in a couple of weeks. Next, try the Northeast Shoot in PA about 26 miles south of Binghamton, NY. The UP Shoot in Michigan is another big source of double guns. The Fall Southern in Georgetown, SC is in September, I think. It is a good double gun show and a great shoot. The Vintagers in New Hampshire is a great place to find a double gun. Cash in hand and guns that are actually for sale is a much better choice than searching the net for hours a day, looking at guns that are not really for sale. Of course, some buys are found this way too. I guess your location would be a good clue for getting good advice. If you live Out West, none of these choices mean much. However, Winter Vegas, the Beinfeld Show, is the best in the country. Yup, "Where do you live?" means a lot.
